“MRS. JAS. H. LONG - Mrs. Jas. H. Long died at her home on North Blanco St. in Lockhart Friday morning March 7th. The funeral was held from the home on the following day at half past twelve o’clock in the afternoon with burial in Jeffrey Grave Yard at McMahan at two o’clock. Religious services were conducted at McMahan by Elders A. A. Culpepper and John W. Baker of the Primitive Baptist Church of which Mrs. Long was a member.
A large number of friends and relatives were present at the funeral out of love and esteem for this good woman, and beautiful flowers were laid upon her grave.
Mrs. Long, whose maiden name was Georgia Hallsell, was born in Caldwell county May 28, 1858. She was married to Jas. H. Long July 11, 1874.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Long is survived by sons, Walter, Edgar and Lester; by daughters, Mesdames J. D. Howard, Walter Bergfeld and Miss Susie Long. All of the children live in Caldwell county and all were present to minister unto their mother during her last hours.
Mrs. Long was a dutiful wife and a kind mother, and besides her immediate family, is mourned by many old neighbors who remember her many good deeds."
