WWI"Wm. Edward New was born at Luling, Texas, Feb. 10, 1896, son of John and Sarah New. He was married to Miss Georgia Guthrie at Tilmon, November 20, 1919, who, with five children, Mrs. C. B. Crawford of Lockhart; Wm. Ray (now with the 36th Division); Margaret, Kenneth and Ruth, survive him. He also leaves a half brother, Jim Riddle, Polar, Texas, and a brother Luther New of Galveston.
Mr. New was a veteran of World War I, having served with the 36th and 42nd Divisions. He was a Baptist, a loving and indulgent father, a good farmer, and was known in his community for his good qualities and sterling worth.
Another defender of the American way of life has gone to his reward."
