Rice, Henry A.

Henry A. Rice
Born 8/31/1829
Died 7/20/1901

"Mr. Henry A. Rice, one of the old citizens of Caldwell county, died at his home a few miles east of Lockhart, last Saturday, and was buried on Sunday in the old cemetery near McMahan. Mr. Rice was an old Confederate soldier, having served through the war as a member of Company K, 17th Texas Infantry, and was as good a soldier as Caldwell county sent into the field during the war. Whatever may have been the faults of the deceased he had virtues that endeared him to his soldier comrades, and those who survive him will kindly remember the good that was in him and consign the faults to oblivion. Peace be to the old soldier."
