WWI"Funeral services for Joe B. Roberts at the McMahan Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 4:00 o’clock were under the auspices of Henry T. Rainey Post No. 41, American Legion. The Rev. Jesse G. Cooke officiated in the religious service.....
Joe B. Roberts, son of the deceased B. F. and Josephine Roberts was born in the Clear Fork community December 9, 1894. The family lived there until he was 18 years of age when they moved to the Clarks Chapel community. While living there he enlisted in the National Guard at Lockhart.
He was in the 141st Infantry, 36 Division in World War I and trained at Camp Bowie, Fort Worth.
In due time he went overseas and saw front line service in some of the fiercest battles. He was in the last battle before the Armistice was signed.
After his return to the United States and his discharge, he was married December 19, 1919 to Miss Maude McMahan, who with two sons and a daughter survives him.
the sons are J. B. and Ralph Rainey Roberts, both of whom served in World War II. The daughter is Miss Frances Roberts......"
