Project Phase

Headstone Photo Project – Phase 3

As of today 99% of the headstone photos have been loaded into the personal grave pages.  We still have to load the Unknown headstones and then go back and see which graves are missing headstones.   Also, we’ll be going through all of the photos one more time to see which ones need to be re-taken due to poor picture quality, bad lighting, or bad angle.

If you have any additional photos or an obituary that you would like added please feel free to contact us at jeffreycemetery@gmail.com

Phase 4 will be the Audit phase where we will go back to the cemetery and re-take photos and most important, we’ll go through the cemetery and review each grave to ensure that we have the right headstone located in the right place in the database.  We have taken, processed and loaded over 1,190 headstone photos this past year so we know that some mistakes may have been made in matching the headstones to the correct graves.  If you find any headstone placements that are not correct, dates are wrong, or names are wrong please let us know so that we can correct them.

Headstone Photo Project – Phase 4

During the annual Homecoming reunion on June 25, 2012 we completed the audit phase of this project.  We also took photos of new burials and took several re-takes.  Once we add the new photos this week the inventory and photo project will be complete.  We’ll then shift into maintenance mode.

Our next project for the site will be expanding the genealogy research section where we will work with family members to add qualified genealogy data for the persons interred here.

We would like to thank Tom Owen, Association Secretary/Treasurer, for his tremendous help in completing this project.  We couldn’t have done it without his assistance.

Headstone Photo Project – Phase 2

The editing of the photos is progressing slowly.  So far we’ve processed 859 photos with 335 to go. We’ve also sorted out 63 photos that are either duplicate or unusable.

At this time we are renaming the photos to the family names so that we can load them into the database for each grave.  We’re also enhancing the color to make them more readable.  Lastly, we’re straighting and cropping the photos so the headstone is predominant in the picture just like the ones shown in the photo to the left.

We’re hoping to be halfway through the project by the 2012 Homecoming reunion.  We will be bringing our computers to the Homecoming so family members can contribute more photos and Obituaries for their deceased loved ones.

More later.
