Died 1\/6\/2012<\/div><\/span>\"Aston Maurice Reed, 91, passed away on Jan. 6, 2012. Maurice was born Dec. 4, 1920, to W. L. and Rossie Reed in McMahan, Texas. He began school in McMahan, later graduating from Lockhart High School. For a short time after high school, he attended business school and worked in Austin. During World War II, he worked in airplane construction for the War Effort. Returning to McMahan after the war, Maurice began his farming and ranching career, which would span six decades. Primarily known for raising hogs, he also raised cattle and sheep, as well as crops like maize and corn. Proud of his McMahan roots, he always helped with the annual homecoming, which benefits the Jeffrey Cemetery, and was one of the first members on the McMahan Water Board.\rMaurice was preceded in death by his parents, W. L. and Rossie Reed; brother, Garlon Reed; wife, Dorothy Reed; and son, Greg Reed.\rMaurice is survived by four children: Steve Reed, of Austin, Lee Landry, of McMahan, Max Landry and wife, Sondra, of Austin, and Gary Landry and wife, Patty, of Cedar Creek....\"\robit taken from Lockhart Post-Register newspaper, Thursday, January 12, 2012<\/div><\/div>
