"BOY DIES FROM ACCIDENTAL SHOT - Morgan Baker, fourteen years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baker of the McMahan community, died in the Lockhart Sanitarium about one o’clock Monday morning as the result of a wound from a .22 calibre (sic) rifle received about three o’clock Sunday afternoon.
Three boys, Tid Clark, Judson Owen, and Morgan Baker, were shooting at a target with a .22 calibre (sic) rifle...it accidentally discharged, the bullet entering the head of Baker just above the right eye.
Possibility that the bullet lodged not far beneath the skull gave hope that the life of the lad might be saved and he was brought to the Lockhart Sanitarium where an X-ray photograph was made....
The body was laid to rest in the Jeffrey Grave Yard at McMahan Monday afternoon. Religious services were conducted by Rev. A. O. Hinkle of Lockhart, assisted by Elder Richard Cole....."
