"T. P. Baker died at his home in Lockhart Tuesday morning at five oclock. He had been in failing health for several months but was able to be up a great part of the time until a few days ago. The remains were buried at the McMahan cemetery Wednesday, the funeral services being conducted by Elder John Baker of the Primitive Baptist church.
The deceased was born in Caldwell county October 12, 1868.
Nearly all his life was spent in this county and for several years he had been engaged in the retail liquor business in Lockhart. The Baker family were among the early settlers in this section. In 1892 he married to Miss Lucinda Scruggs of this county and to this union eight children were born, two having died and six surviving as follows:
Ernest, Irvin, Clifton, T.P., Marvin and Lawrence. Besides the children and widow there survive six brothers, E. N. Baker of Gonzales county, J. W. Baker of Lockhart, W. G. Baker of Corpus Christi, R. F. Baker of Lutcher, La., E. A. Baker of Robstown and J. W. Baker of San Antonio and one sister, Mrs. J. B. Baker of McMahan.
Press Baker was an honest and honorable man and had many friends in Lockhart and Caldwell county who join in sympathy to the bereaved family in their sad hour."
