"J. H. BLUNDELL - J. H. Blundell one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of Caldwell County died at his home near McMahan Thursday evening and was buried in the McMahan Cemetery Friday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. G. Z. Saddler. At the time of his death Mr. Blundell was in the eighty seventh year of his age. He came from Louisiana in the thirties and had most of the time since been a citizen of this county. He was a veteran of the Indian wars of Texas, of the Mexican and Civil wars. His record as a soldier was characterized by such courage and faithfulness as to be a source of gratification to himself and a pride to his friends and relatives. He was a man of unusual energy and his life one of activity; he has left on record many good works which follow him. He leaves two sons, Frank and Matt of the county and a daughter, Mrs. C. W. Galloway of Seguin. These have the sympathy of hosts of friends."
