Veteran "Ross Adrian Rice Killed in Italy - Pvt. Ross Adrian Rice, 22, was killed in action May 12 in Italy, according to word received Friday by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Rice of McMahan. He was serving with the --- Infantry Division.
Ross Adrian Rice was born in Caldwell County Nov. 22, 1921 where he lived until he entered the army. He attended school at McMahan and made a good reputation as a soft ball player on the McMahan team.
He entered the army Oct. --, 1942 and trained at Camp Gruber, Okla. Besides his mother, he is survived by brothers, Preston, Claude and ---- Rice; and sisters, Mrs. Violet Tumlinson of Gonzales; Mrs. Min--- Barron, Austin; Misses Clara Rice, Gonzales, and Florine Rice of Lockhart.
Ross Adrian Rice\'s name will live as one of the nation\'s heroes who gave his life for his country."
