"Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Eugenia Reed, widow of Daniel W. Reed, were held at McMahan Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 3, 1947. Elder S. A. Nite, pastor of her church, officiated, assisted by Eld. J. G. Fowler.
She was laid to rest by the side of her husband who departed this life March 16, 1933.
She passed away at her home near McMahan at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 1947. She had been in bad health for years and took critically ill the week before Christmas and suffered something awful. Everything was done for her that loving hands and doctors could do.
She had been a member of Primitive Baptist Church for 50 years, and always was a devoted wife and mother. She was a daughter of Jas. T. and Elizabeth Galloway and was born March 23, 1867. She was married to Daniel W. Reed March 16, 1884.
The pall bearers were Thurman Payne, George Jones, Raymond Edmundson, Desmond Reed, Clifford Huddleston, Ernest Ebner.
Four children survive her - Mrs. J. B. Hanson, Lockhart; Leonard Reed, Lockhart; Mrs. Henry Williams, Dale; Thomas Reed, Lockhart. Ten grandchildren survive - they are Mrs. Thursman Payne, Longview; Mrs. Raymond Edmundson, Kingsville; Raymond Hanson, Houston; Ruby Hanson, Lockhart; Leota Reed, Edwin Reed, Jarrell Reed, Lockhart; Mrs. George Jones, Dale; Desmond Reed and Joline Reed, Lockhart. Three grandchildren, deceased several years ago - Lamar Hanson, Mildred Lucille Williams and Clifton Williams, the latter being killed in World War II. There are five great grandchildren - Walter Raymond Payne, Winston Payne, Ronny Edmundson, Dean Reed, and Raymond Paul Hanson. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Huddleston, McMahan; Mrs. M. J. Hodnett, Austin; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Galloway, Lockhart."
