"William Lafayette Reed, 80 year old farmer, died in Lockhart Hospital June 30 at 12:30 p.m. and was buried in Jeffrey Cemetery July 1. Elder W. R. Daniels conducted services from Bethel Church at McMahan with McCurdy Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his widow of McMahan; sons, Maurice and James Garland Reed of McMahan; brother, Daniel Reed of McMahan; four grandchildren.
Born in Caldwell County on March 14, 1898, he was a son of William T. and Margaret Williams Reed. He married Rossie McGee in McMahan on April 14. 1918, was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Casketbearers were Edward DuBoise, Joe McGee, Tobe McGee, Weldon Reed, Marlin McGee, Hulan McGee and G. A. Long."
