“OBITUARY - John Allen King was born in Caldwell County near the present town of McMahan, November 26, 1867, being at the time of his death, 68 years, 10 months and 25 days of age.
He was married to Miss Alta Cole, January 11, 1890.
He died at his home October 21, 1936, after a long illness.
His body was interred in the Jeffrey Cemetery at McMahan with Elder R. Cole, of Dale, officiating. Elders Grant, Richard and G. W. White spoke comforting words to the bereaved family.
His body was tenderly borne to its last resting place by six of his youthful friends: G. A. Long, Ralph Jeffrey, Tilmon Jeffrey, Judson Owen, Leland Owen and Lester Jowers.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alta King; one brother, Dick King of Throckmorton, Texas; one sister, Mrs. J. T. Compton, Devol. Okla.; five children, Mrs. J. F. Jowers, Mrs. J. D. Reed, Mrs. Lanas Ellis, Riley and Dalton King, all of McMahan, and five grandchildren. Lester and Alta Mae Jowers, Bobbie Dan Reed, Willie Ross Ellis and Velda Faye King......."
