Family moved to Oklahoma when he was 15 years old. Married Lela Dodson there on October 29, 1918. Joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Marlow, Ok in Aug. 1931. Moved to McMahan, Texas in January 1938 and joined Tinneys Creek Church. Ordained to full work of the ministry on May 7, 1938.
