Gay Rose earned a Bachelor\'s and Master\'s degree from the University of Texasat Austin in Education. She was an elementary school teacher for over 29 years in the Austin area. At age 15 she met Dick Ellis at a church youth group. They married April 3, 1970. They had two children, Missie and Matt.
