"James B. Cole died in Lockhart at 5:46 pm Tuesday and was buried in McMahan Cemetery Thursday morning. He was taken ill early Tuesday morning but was not considered to be in imminent danger and his friends were surprised and schocked [sic] at the news of his death late in the afternoon.
Uncle Jimmie, as he was familiarly known to his friends, was a man of kind heart and boundless charity. He never intentionally wronged a fellowman and was always quick to forgive an injury.
There survive him four brothers, John and Dick Cole of McMahan, George of Muldoon and Jerry of Williamson: three sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Franks of McMahan, Mrs. Eliza Baker of Wilson Co., and Mrs. Mary King of Throckmorton Co.
The bereaved family have our heartfelt sympathy."
