Second marriage, in 1875, to Frances Ursula Miley, b. Jan 13, 1855 in Covington County, Alabama, d. March 28, 1921 in Caldwell County, TX. Children: Alice Jeffrey McMahan, Mary Orgain Jeffrey Dunlap, William Fred Jeffrey, Maggie Daisy Jeffrey Alexander, Minnie Kay Jeffrey Harris, Sarah Ollie Jeffrey Adams, Austin Lee Jeffrey, James Pruitt Jeffrey Jr., Ava Pearl Jeffrey Tiller, and Lewis Andre Jeffrey.

"OBITUARY - J. P. Jeffrey, Sr., one of the oldest and most highly esteemed citizens of the McMahan community, has gone to his reward after a life the fruits of which will be a benediction to mankind thruout (sic) all time.... The life of Mr. Jeffrey ended at 5:15 o’clock on the morning of April 1st., three days after his 86th birthday... Religious services were conducted by Elder Ball of San Antonio and Elder Richard Cole of McMahan, ministers of the Primitive Baptist church of which Mr. Jeffrey had for years been a member... J. P. Jeffrey was born in Tipper county, Mississippi, March 28, 1843. He came to Texas with his parents in 1852 and settled in the community where he spent almost his entire life.
