"Elder Richard Cole, 92 year old retired minister of the Primitive Baptist Church at McMahan, died at 4:30 a.m. October 7 in Beaumont and was buried in Jeffrey Cemetery at McMahan October 9. Elder Len Dalton of Hamilton conducted services from Bethel Church with arrangements by McCurdy Funeral Home.
Survivors include a son, Leonard Cole of Huoma, La.; a daughter, Mrs. A. O. Adams of Baytown; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob C. Cole of Sinton and Hyman Cole of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mrs. W. F. Laws of Austin and Mrs. H. B. Isaacks of Levelland.
Born in Caldwell county December 13, 1873, he was a son of J. J. and Ellen Stansel Cole. He married Sulie Jeffrey at McMahan January 8, 1905, and spent most of his life in this county.
Pallbearers were Jack Cole, Glen Taylor, Ray Taylor, Billy Taylor, Everett Cole and Leonard Van Horn."
